----
This musical evening is dedicated to a screening of "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day".
The film was released recently, in 2008.
But it based in an old novel by Tyneside author, Winifred Watson, and published in 1938.
The film is not particularly memorable, but -- hey, it's British, and it's literary.
J. L. Speranza focuses on the musical illustrations. Ours are "flick 'n' MUSICAL tea".
So Speranza will focus on that bit in the novel (and film) where Pettigrew goes to --- of all places -- the "Red Flamingo", a decadent cabaret in the Soho, run, naturally enough, by an Italian mafioso by the name of "Nick Calderelli"
The song that Amy Adams sings to the piano accompaniment of her lover will be recreated by yours truly, as pianist.
Etc. Satisfaction guaranteed!
